Who is the best coach in sports history?
Mon Aug 24, 2009
What about Casey Stengel? 10 World Series in 12 years.
Who is the best NFL running back of all time?
Mon Aug 17, 2009
Nobody who ever saw Jim Brown carry the football has the slightest doubt that he should be #1. No runner before or since had his combination of speed, power, toughness, and field sense. Just watch some of those old NFL Films highlights of him ... you'll come away shaking your head.
What's next for John Smoltz?
Fri Aug 7, 2009
You had a great run, John. But it's time to hang 'em up. You don't have anything left to prove.
Vin Scully to go one more year; Plaschke, sadly, not going anywhere
Wed Jul 29, 2009
As a lifelong Giants fan, I get my hackles up at anything colored Dodger blue. But Vinny is an exception. I'd tune in to listen to the man call paint drying. I've listened to a lot of people call baseball games in my life ... and lots of them were very good, but Vinny was the best.
Daily Dose: End of the line for Big Unit?
Wed Jul 29, 2009

What is the best ballpark in Major League Baseball?
Wed Jul 8, 2009
I've seen games in about half of all Major League stadiums, going back many years, and I thought all of them were good places to catch a game, with the lone exception of Outer Siberia Field (otherwise known as Candlestick). San Francisco made up for it with AT&T, though ...
Days of the .400 hitter are dead and gone
Thu Jul 2, 2009
Somebody will do it. George Brett and Tony Gwynn both came within just a few base hits of doing it. Obviously, it's not going to be easy. But you never say never in Major League Baseball. There's only one record that's totally unreachable, and that's Cy Young's 511 victories.
Will baseball ever again see a .400 hitter?
Thu Jul 2, 2009
Of course we'll see it. If you can hit .394 or .390, then you can hit .400. It may take another 100 years, but it will happen.
