  • As a lifelong Giants fan, I get my hackles up at anything colored Dodger blue. But Vinny is an exception. I'd tune in to listen to the man call paint drying. I've listened to a lot of people call baseball games in my life ... and lots of them were very good, but Vinny was the best.

  • Somebody will do it. George Brett and Tony Gwynn both came within just a few base hits of doing it. Obviously, it's not going to be easy. But you never say never in Major League Baseball. There's only one record that's totally unreachable, and that's Cy Young's 511 victories.
